The Great Ghosts
A staggering choreography, a play of movement that defies the laws of gravity - that is what acrobat, dancer and choreographer Yoann Bourgeois presents when he enters the Pantheon in Paris for the third edition of Monuments en mouvement (Monuments in Motion) at the invitation of the Center des Monuments Nationaux.
This adaptation of 'The Mechanics of History, an attempt to approach a point of suspension' takes place at the highest point in the dome of this Parisian monument, where the famous Pendulum of Foucault acts as the benchmark of this choreography about movement and balance. Bourgeois installed trampolines, a turntable and the famous Seesaw of Levity. Gravity is defied in a balance that is as beautiful as it is scary, while the dancers/acrobats along with Foucault's Pendulum form the centre of this unique performance. How far are the dancers willing to go? And for how long?
