The striking performances of Guy Weizman (1972), artistic director of the Noord Nederlands Toneel in Groningen, are characterised by a critical reflection on world problems, defiant idiosyncratic humor and groundbreaking performances. Documentary filmmaker Willem Baptist follows the creation process of the performance 'Before / After' - from the first rehearsals to the moment it was to premiere. In the film Guy Weizman - Before / After, Baptist shows in a stylized and daring way how art reflects reality and vice versa, and how creative thoughts can transform reality in unexpected ways. The film not only talks about the emotions and motives of Weizman himself, but also about those of many other performers, artists and authors in the arts, who have not been able to share the outcome of their blood, sweat and tears with the audience because of Covid-19.
