The Case Against Dance Film
Mitchell Rose (filmmaker and professor of dance filmmaking at Ohio State University) has his doubts about the happy marriage of dance and film. At the beginning of the pandemic, he had all the time of the world to binge-watch dance films: cliché followed by blasé semi scientific reflection. In spring 2020 Mitchell sent out his short lecture The Case Against Dance Film to shake up his own professional territory. But why does he – of all people – continue with this despised genre? During Cinedans ’21 he will perform his lecture live online. Kick off of a conversation with some special guests and whomever it may concern. Feel invited to argue for or against our beloved yet fragile genre. Share your thoughts, films, doubts and taste!
The Professional Meetings are free to join. Please register yourself via hospitality@cinedans.nl
