Snow
UK | 2003 | 8′
Directed by David Hinton
Choreographed by Rosemary Lee
Snow is made entirely from historical archive footage of winter antics from the 1890s to the 1960s. Footage was cut and recombined to create a rhythmic choreography of gestures and action on the smooth sidewalks and slopes of a bygone era.

Birds in the earth
FI | 2019 | 11′
Directed by Marja Helander
Choreographed by Birit & Katja Haarla
Birds in the earth pictures a story of ownership of the land of the Sámi and the rights of the Sámi in modern-day Finland, danced by two young Sámi ballet students, Birit and Katja.

Nussin
NL | 1993 | 15′
Directed by Clara van Gool
In the middle of winter, two couples dance the tango in an Eastern European apartment building. The party gets out of hand and ends fatally. Or were they maybe all alone, by themselves in their own apartment? Winner of the Golden Calf for Best Short Film at the Netherlands Film Festival 1998.

kopitoto
JP | 2020 | 9′
Directed & Choreographed by the Kusanagi Sisters
and Yvonne Meier
A wintry forest comes to life in this delightfully weird collaboration between conceptual dance artists Lisa and JuJu Kusanagi and Yvonne Meier. Their choreography of snow and ice, trees and sunlight, body parts and forest creatures evokes the playful illusionism of movie pioneer Georges Méliès.

Cold Storage
FI | 2016 | 8′
Directed by Thomas Freundlich
Choreographed by Valtteri Raekallio
Cold Storage pays homage to the virtuosic physical performances and melancholic comedy of the classic silent screen. As a lonely ice fisherman discovers in the ice his frozen prehistoric soul brother, multiple levels of time and reality blend together into a cinematic and kinetic exploration of alienation, dependency and friendship.
