DAY 2: Clowns

Get ready for a thrill! Today, we present the film interpretation of the performance Clowns by Hofesh Shechter!
And don’t miss today’s Surprise Short!

Shot at the iconic Rivoli Ballroom in South London, Clowns plays out a macabre comedy of murder and desire, asking how far will we go in the name of entertainment. While the performance combines bold, exhilarating and tribal movement with a percussive, cinematic score, the choreography of the camera provides theatrical ensemble shots and close-up sequences that draw the audience members straight into the madness of the interaction between the ten dancers on stage.

The performance Clowns premiered at NDT 1 in 2016 and made a crushing impression on the press and public. Hein Janssen named Clowns in de Volkskrant one of the best performances of 2016.
The film Clowns is performed by the dancers of Shechter’s own company in Great Britain. The Hofesh Shechter Company is resident at Brighton Dome and Shechter is an Associate Artist of Sadler’s Wells in London.

Thank you – I first saw this on the BBC two (?) years ago – it’s so powerful that it’s haunted me ever done. Please can you extend the time for which it’s available?

Does anyone know a same themed other medium piece of art? A painting, or a song… something like this? For school.
