The Land of No Curtains
The Land of No Curtains is an interdisciplinary installation inspired by the typically Dutch 'open curtains culture': no other country allows you peak inside as unabashedly as ours. At eye level we see a wooden house. Everyday life and the memories of a home are captured on film and in embroidered textiles.
Lunatics and Poets, an interdisciplinary artist collective, uses holographic screens for this installation. Without a headset or glasses, the viewer becomes a voyeur of poetic miniature scenes.
The first research started in 2020 in collaboration with Cinedans at the Performance & Technology lab. During Cinedans FEST ’22, Lunatics and Poets will present a preview of a part of the installation.
The finished work will premiere at Festival d'Avignon in July. The installation is produced by Dark Euphoria and created in collaboration with Eori Wakakuwa (film), Jan Jacobs (house design), Elgar Weijtmans (technology), Samon Presland (light) and Hanna van der Meer (performance film) with the support of La Manufacture, Creative Europe, REAL-IN, the Dutch Embassy and AFK.
Our ongoing Installations & VR program is accessible to everyone and will be open 11am to 11pm, from Thursday 22 to Sunday 26 June.
